Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT AGES CAN PARTICIPATE?
STORM training is appropriate for kids as young as 9. Many of our leadership trainees continue on through their early teen years, and have even taken on paid positions in the school.
WHEN ARE CLASSES?
Weekly STORM classes are held on Saturdays at 1:00pm. Online training modules can be completed at any time, as time management is a skill we encourage.
DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO STUDY MARTIAL ARTS?
Not at all! While many of our lessons will revolve around martial arts themes, and we do use a lot of martial arts symbolism to help visualize goals, no experience is needed.
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
All of our members start the same way, with a free 1-on-1 placement evaluation. This session allows your child to break the ice with our team, allows us to assess your child’s strengths and challenges, and lets you see how we work with the kids.
IS YOUR CHILD READY TO BECOME A STORM TEAM MEMBER?
If your child is a natural leader (or wants to become one)
then STORM might be for them. Here’s what is involved:
Weekly Classes
Classes are held weekly in 12-week cycles.
Leaders know how to make and keep commitments, so a successful
candidate will be able to make it to class each week.
Monthly Online Training
Leaders know that continued personal is vital for success.
Each month, kids will have one online class to complete at their own pace. These classes are brief, but we encourage personal exploration.
Commitment to Excellence
Leaders understand that the way they do one thing will be
the way they do everything & that the way they do everything
will be the way that those around them also do things.
Candidates for leadership training do not have to have perfect behavior
or straight A’s, but they do need to be dedicated to doing their best.
This includes personal relationships, scholastic diligence, & behavior at home.
Learning Modules
They struggle to maintain control of their movements and may be unintentionally destructive.
Interactive Projects
They find it difficult to focus on a task or to see it through to the end. They sometimes struggle to listen to you.
THE STORM METHOD
Learning about theories of leadership is great, but learning how to APPLY those lessons is where the magic happens!
Students have the opportunity to take on active leadership roles within the STORM program, through near-peer mentoring in general classes, & through relationships we have built in the local community.

Team Building Skillz
